Royal Mail Price Increase

From 30th April 2012 Royal Mail will increase postage prices above and beyond expectations.

This will affect business and personal customer alike. For Aspect Corporate Clothing, we will need to review our policy of posting our full 432 page brochure to customers requesting it instead of using our online brochure.

First-class stamp prices will increase from 46p to 60p and second class from 36p to 50p from April 30, the Royal Mail announced today.

Ofcom, which took over regulation of the postal service from Postcomm last October, said that, subject to the safeguards it was putting in place, Royal Mail will now make decisions on the price of stamps. Making the announcement in its long-awaited review of the postal service, it has placed a cap on the price of second-class stamps for standard letters to protect vulnerable consumers.

Top corporate workwear brands for 2012

So far this year, Aspect Corporate Clothing’s top selling workwear brands are Fruit of the Loom (polo shirt SS11), Russell (shirt 936M & blouse 936F), Premier (apron PR150), Regatta (jacket RG008), Result (fleece RS36) and Dickies (cargo trousers WD005).

This information covers the first 10 weeks of trading in 2012. Historically this pattern is likely to continue throughout the year. With the exception of the Dickies trousers, the most popular method of decoration was embroidery (usually located on the left breast position) followed by screen printing.

Crisis Homeless Charity – clothing donation

Today we received a letter from Leslie Morphy ONE, Chief Executive of Crisis the charity working for the homeless thanking Aspect for its donation of clothing. We provided over 500 brand new garments to its distribution centre in London in December 2011 shortly before Christmas.
For the last 40 years Crisis at Christmas has provided a warm, sage place to stay for thousands of homeless and vulnerable people during the Christmas period. For more information visit the Crisis website.

The Pantone company have announced that Tangerine Tango is their colour for 2012. Orange has grown in popularity and for 2012 fashion designers including Tommy Hilfiger, Nanette Lepore and Adrienne Vittadini will be using it in their ranges.

Water shortages will affect our business

Thames Water has announced that last year (2011) was one of the driest on record and therefore we are expecting widespread hosepipe bans. Their comment is “it’s now not a case of whether we’ll be having a drought this year, it’s a case of when and how bad.”
This will affect our business as we use water to wash the screens we use to screen print garments and promo business gifts. We are currently working on a contingency plan, talking to trade bodies and industry suppliers.
