American Apparel is back, back, back.

Is American Apparel is still an iconic brand?

American Apparel is relaunching in the UK two years after going into administration.

An iconic brand known for its sexualised adverts, risqué images and larger than life CEO Dov Charney is all in the past. AA has a turbulent history from a low key underfunded start in 1989 the company grew to become the standard clothier for the youth wardrobe. Purposely making headlines for its marketing strategy, the company had a meteoric rise of sales and financing and a crashing down of the company’s finances, multiple, legal cases and departure of it founder. After numerous re-financing efforts the company failed. Canadian t-shirt manufacturer Gildan bought the brand and has now re-launched it.

Hoping to leave behind the controversies of the past, Gildan is concentrating on what it does best; manufacture, quality control, supply and distribution to the trade for screen printing and embroidery for use in workwear and promotional corporate clothing.
